Web Site Headache

November 15, 2006 / by christene

I have been trying to develop the web site for my on line auction. If at all anything becomes of this, it will be an aching back and shoulder blades that will ache for days. I can't find a template that really suits the functionality I am looking for and I sure in the heck cannot start a web design from a blank page, its just not my specialty. Therefore I have resorted to calling the local Vo-Tech. Thankfully I have a friend in the placement department. Maybe I will get in launched by 2007.

When I first came up with the idea of developing a nonprofit on line auction with proceeds being donated to different research organizations, never did I imagine it would be such a process. I was being told by the lawyer to contact an accountant, then the accountant told me to contact a lawyer. I was lost. Finally a rep from Carnival explained to me what I would need to do in order to better attain sponsorships. Once again I contacted the accountant, she directed me to the Secretary of State web site. Once I filled out the required paperwork, the instructions at the bottom, thats right the bottom of the page stated a nonprofit organization requires special IRS language. Didn't know there was such a thing and obviously the accountant didn't either. A phone call to the IRS and a couple questions later, the paperwork for the state is done and in the mail. Once the nonprofit is accepted by the state, then I have to apply for a 5013c from the IRS. And from what I have been told, this step will be the most time consuming of all. Go figure.

Well the kids will be out of school here in a few minutes, so I have to run. See you all later.
